Instructions For Using EZ Thumbs

EZ Thumbs is a free image compression/optimization tool. You can download a copy from the Fookes site here. Just follow these simple instructions and you'll soon be an expert at sizing and optimizing images for use on the Internet.

Launch Easy Thumbnails from your Start Menu. (Figure A.1)

In the top window labeled “Look in,” browse to the folder where your unmodified pictures are (Figure A.1). If you want to select a specific image to modify, click on it in the window below “Look in.” To modify all images in the folder, do not select any in the second window.
Now, click the button at the bottom of that same page, on the left, where it says “Save in.” Browse to your folder where you are saving your photos – create a folder called “listingphotos” (or any name you prefer) near where your original photos are located. (Figure A.2)

Now, click the “Settings” tab at the top left. Select “Best Fit” from the Resize pull down menu. Type in “640” for Max width and leave the Max height blank. This will keep the correct size ratio for your images and size them to a practical dimension for the Internet. Slide the JPEG quality to “60” as shown below in Figure A.3.

Click “Make All” to prepare all photos in the selected folder. If you’re preparing one photo, click “Make.” Easy Thumbnails will modify the photos and save the new versions into your “listingphotos” folder.

Using your ListingPro software, simply upload the photos. You can later delete these temporary folders you created.

Sound like a lot of work? It’s not. Once you get the hang of it, adding a new listing to your site should take no more than 15 minutes, maybe even faster if you have all of the information you need ready to go.
